White cardboard and coated paper are most used two kinds of papers in printing industry. White cardboard is called single art paper(C1S) in South China, coated paper is called double art paper(C2S) and matt coated paper is called matt art paper. White cardboard is with high stiffness and suitable for one-side print; the surface of coated paper is smoother and suitable for double-side print.
So what’s the difference between this two kind papers?
White cardboard
White cardboard is one kind of paper with hard stiffness, thick and solid, with big volume usage.It’s divided to paper sheet, card paper and paperboard based on ration benchmark.
The main application of white cardboard is business card printing, invitation, envelop, desk calendar, postcard, packaging, etc.
The white cardboard has high request on whiteness. The whiteness of A grade can’t be lower than 92%, the whiteness of B grade can’t be lower than 87% and the whiteness of C grade can’t be lower than 82%. Whiteness is more than 90%, which is very shining.
White cardboard need higher stiffness, bursting strength and smoothness.The surface is flat, has no striation and spot, not allowed to have buckling deformation.
Coated paper
The surface of coated paper is bright, even coating, absorbing ink fastly and have good printability, suitable for exquisite colorful printing. For the purpose of delicate printing, paint coating on the surface of raw material and press polish by supercalender to coated papers.
Single coated paper is called single art paper in South China, one side is coated to be polished and another side is rough, but also can be printed one color or not so refined colors.
Coated papers are divided to single coated papers and double coated papers. The material of double coated papers are from 80gsm to 400gsm, and the material of single coated papers are from 170gsm to 400gsm.
Double coated papers are divided to single coating and double coating. According to the standard of classification of Japanese paper industry, the coating weight is about 10g/m2. They are the most frequently used in cultural publish, advertisement design, printing bookbinding and industrial and commercial circles.
The surface of this two kind papers have big difference when putting them together we would see that. White cardboard is thick and solid with high bursting strength, mostly used for packaging and postcards. Coated papers are shining and smooth, absorbing ink fastly and color is vivid, mostly used on books and packaging boxes.
